San Diego County Democrats for Environmental Action Endorse Nathan Fletcher
Fletcher consolidates environmental community behind campaign
SAN DIEGO - The San Diego County Democrats for Environmental Action (SDCDEA), one of the leading progressive environmental groups in San Diego, has announced its endorsement of Nathan Fletcher for County Supervisor. With the SDCDEA endorsement, Nathan Fletcher has amassed a growing coalition of environmental support that also includes the League of Conservation Voters, Serge Dedina, Imperial Beach Mayor and Executive Director of WildCoast, Mark West, Imperial Beach City Councilmember and former Chair of San Diego Surfrider, Cori Schumacher, Carlsbad City Councilmember, World Champion Surfer and Environmental Justice Advocate, Steve Padilla, Chula Vista Councilmember and California Coastal Commissioner.
San Diego County Democrats for Environmental Action is one of the leading voices in the region's conservation advocacy and with their endorsement solidifies Nathan Fletcher’s status as a progressive environmental champion.
Tommy Hough, President of the San Diego Democrats for Environmental Action said: "Nathan Fletcher is the candidate for Supervisor who can best ensure our remaining open space is preserved and enhanced, and that the county develops a clear, enforceable and effective Climate Action Plan that invests in clean energy and expands public transportation."
In The State Assembly, Nathan Fletcher was a champion for the environment, working to strengthen clean water protections, encourage recycling, expand renewable energy, preserve wildlife and invest in public transit. He was also an early advocate for plastic bag bans in San Diego County.

The SDCDEA endorsement comes on the heels of massive community support coalescing behind Fletcher’s bid for County Supervisor, including recent endorsements from San Diego County Firefighters, the San Diego Democratic Party and Assemblyman Todd Gloria. A full endorsement list is available here.
Nathan Fletcher is a Marine Corps combat veteran, former California State Assemblymember and a Professor of Practice at UCSD. In the State Assembly, Fletcher passed more than 30 laws to expand healthcare coverage, protect homeowners during the foreclosure crisis and strengthen penalties for violent crimes against children. Since leaving the Assembly, Fletcher founded a veterans’ advocacy foundation to help eliminate the stigma surrounding Post-Traumatic Stress and joined the teaching faculty at UCSD. Fletcher lives in City Heights with his wife, Lorena, and their four children.
