Nathan Fletcher Wins Backing Of League of Conservation Voters
First Major Environmental Endorsement in 4th District Supe Race Goes To Fletcher
SAN DIEGO – The League of Conservation Voters San Diego (LCV-SD), one of the region’s most trusted and respected environmental advocacy groups today announced its endorsement of Nathan Fletcher for County Supervisor. LCV-SD is the first environmental group to endorse in the County Supervisor race.
An all-volunteer organization which advocates for pro-environment policies throughout San Diego County, the League of Conservation Voters endorsement is among the most sought-after and influential endorsements in coastal San Diego districts and further underscores Nathan Fletcher’s status as a progressive environmental champion.
Livia Borak, President of League of Conservation Voters San Diego said: “In the Assembly and in our community, Nathan Fletcher has been a trusted environmental champion working to invest in clean energy, tackle climate change and protect San Diego’s natural beauty. Nathan Fletcher will take on the status quo in County Government and demand real action to protect our environment, expand public transit and hold polluters accountable.”
In the State Assembly, Fletcher was a champion for the environment, working to strengthen clean water protections, encourage recycling, expand renewable energy, preserve wildlife and invest in public transit. Fletcher was also an early advocate for banning single-use plastic bags.
Building on his proven record, Fletcher is the only candidate for County Supervisor who has called on County Government to implement an enforceable Climate Action Plan. Read Nathan’s Climate Action Op-Ed here.
The LCV-SD endorsement comes on the heels of massive community support coalescing behind Fletcher’s bid for County Supervisor, including recent endorsements from San Diego County Firefighters, the San Diego Democratic Party and Assemblyman Todd Gloria. A full endorsement list is available here.
Nathan Fletcher is a Marine Corps combat veteran, former California State Assemblymember and a Professor of Practice at UCSD. In the State Assembly, Fletcher passed more than 30 laws to expand healthcare coverage, protect homeowners during the foreclosure crisis and strengthen penalties for violent crimes against children. Since leaving the Assembly, Fletcher founded a veterans’ advocacy foundation to help eliminate the stigma surrounding Post-Traumatic Stress and joined the teaching faculty at UCSD. Fletcher lives in City Heights with his wife, Lorena, and their four children.
