Here are five things that caught my attention!
Fight Like a Girl: My wife tackled breast cancer like she does everything in life--forcefully, but it wasn’t easy. Please take a moment to read and share her piece in the San Diego Union Tribune outlining her experience. Then schedule your mammogram (or encourage a woman you love to)! She is out of the house and attending a few events and of course looks amazing 🔥 👇🏼🔥 👇🏼.
Busy week: This week the Board of Supervisors approved my measures to implement common sense gun safety legislation (ghost gun ban, safe storage requirements, gun violence prevention efforts), passed our vote center approach to elections (increases turnout), increased our approach and portfolio of renewable energy options and gave a comprehensive update on efforts to adopt a world class climate action plan. It was a good week.
Shaken not stirred: I wasn’t a big James Bond fan until Daniel Craig took over the franchise. For the last 15 years, I have not missed a single one. The latest (and tragically the last) is No Time to Die. Lorena and I saw it in the theater last weekend and it was incredible--except for the ending. With the end of an era here is my personal ranking of the Daniel Craig James Bond movies (#1 being my favorite):
When smart policy actually works: While we continue to endure protests, threats and pure lunacy over vaccines and school safety protocols, we know they are working. This piece in the New York Times outlines that while California has 12% of the nation’s school children, we only represent 1% of school closures due to COVID. And vaccine approval for kids under 12 should be coming soon!
FlashBackFriday: This week we celebrated “Alaska day”! Alaska is the home of Denali--the highest mountain peak in North America. A few years back I had the opportunity to observe the stunning beauty of Alaska from the top (20,310 feet)!
