COVID Progress: We are making tremendous strides! We continue to be a leader in vaccines administered and San Diego is poised to soon descend to the Orange Tier...and unlike other areas, our COVID cases have remained low! It was my honor to welcome Governor Newsom to City Heights to show off our great collaboration! Let’s keep it going!
Speaking of our Governor: Based on a new poll conducted by the Public Policy Institute of California, a majority of voters support Governor Newsom staying in office. That makes sense. He has had an impossible job, but has guided us through it. This recall isn’t even about COVID—nothing in the recall petition is about COVID. It started as an anti-immigrant, right wing attempt to remove our Governor. Let’s reject this nonsense.
Probe: Back in July, a horrendous training accident claimed the lives of nine service members, eight marines and one sailor, after an amphibious vehicle sank off of the coast of San Clemente. It hit home for me as my son was training on these same vehicles a few days before the accident. A summary released by the Marine Corps revealed that the incident was avoidable. People need to be held accountable and changes need to be made.
Mean Tweets: Every day, my office receives numerous constituent calls, emails, social media comments, and other forms of communications from the community. While most are genuine comments, concerns, or questions, others are just downright mean. I certainly take criticism in stride as a part of the job, but we couldn’t help but have a little fun with a few of them. Take a look at some of the meanest messages I’ve gotten.
Opening Day: Baseball season is finally here, and there was no better way to start the season than watching the Padres beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-7. Let’s go Padres!!
