Happy New Year: New Year’s is one of my favorite times of the year and this year we actually stayed awake until midnight on the west coast:) It isn’t just because it is my wedding anniversary, or because New Year’s Eve is my birthday (baby picture here), but today represents a chance to refocus and recommit to things that are important in our lives. What are your New Year's resolutions?
Tune out the nonsense:Today, San Diego hit a new record of COVID-19 positive cases (4,478) and 58 more lives were lost...in a single day. The more contagious UK variant of COVID-19 is now present in San Diego County. Please know efforts to stop the spread are not a conspiracy to deprive liberty, a plot to overthrow small business or whatever other nonsense is circulating. This is a global pandemic that is hitting our community hard. Everyone knows what to do. Please do it.
Music I’m enjoying: Zach Bryan is an active duty member of the military and a prodigious writer and singer of some powerful and impactful music. If you need a break from overly produced and often meaningless blah, check out his youtube or here for itunes page. (H/T to my son Max for turning me onto him)
Something I am excited about: Last week, Congress passed what is being called the most significant climate change policy in a decade. Trump didn’t tweet about it, so It didn’t get the attention it deserved. Two of the measures included in the package were formed by Rep. Scott Peters. We are fortunate to have him advocating for us in Congress. This shows once again why effective Congressional leadership matters.
Lets Go!: What a week for our Padres!!!! First we get Blake Snell and then a few hours later complete a blockbuster trade for Yu Darvish. This Padres team is not joking around, they are ready to win and I’m here for it! 45 days until Spring Training. #BeatLA
