Off to a strong start: This week I had my first official Board meeting as Chair! We got a lot accomplished this week with the unanimous passing of our Framework for the Future policies. It’s incredible what a progressive Board can achieve, and we’re just getting started.
Text for help: One of the first questions I asked two years ago when I joined the Board of Supervisors was why you can call but not text 911. I was told that change was coming soon and recently the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department has launched its “Text to 911” technology to make emergency services more accessible to the most vulnerable residents. To see how this new “Text to 911” technology works, check out this Sheriff’s Department video.
Great read: In a phenomenal piece from the Atlantic, we learn of the heartbreaking loss of Maryland Congressman Jamie Raskin’s son as well as how he brought his daughter to work with him in the Capitol when it was overrun by terrorists. Through all of this, Rep Raskin stood firm in his dedication to impeach Trump-- and it paid off.
Dump Trump: In a new survey from San Diego Union-Tribune/10News poll, 60 percent of San Diego Residents consider Donald Trump one of America’s worst presidents--not a surprise. The poll also revealed that most residents believe that Joe Biden won the election “fair and square” and that Trump should be impeached and removed from office. I’m counting down the days until the nightmare that is Trump’s presidency is finally over.
