Progress: San Diego continues to lead the way in California for the number of vaccines administered! We have vaccinated well over 70% of our seniors, and every teacher and school staffperson has been offered their 1st dose, and we are vaccinating our homeless. This has us on pace to descend to the red tier next week. We've already allowed flexibility for breweries and schools are planning to re-open! Progress!
A better way for behavioral health: My highest priority (outside of COVID response) remains to be rebuilding our mental health and drug treatment system. This week, we announced our progress in this effort to create Mobile Crisis Response Teams (MCRT). This will ensure trained clinicians can respond to those in distress. This effort is an important part of a holistic approach to addressing homelessness. You can read more about this approach HERE.

Back to Business: This article from the LA Times does a great job of explaining the forecasted prediction that California will recover from the pandemic faster than the rest of the U.S. With the recent signing of the $1.9 trillion economic relief package and more vaccines becoming available, once we are officially out of this pandemic, California will see a major economic turnaround.
Olympic Park Bombing: I remember the Olympic Park bombing and the security guard who was wrongly blamed. However, I had no idea of the full story. I highly recommend the Netflix series "Manhunt: Deadly Games." I feel so terrible for Richard Jewell and how he was treated.
