1,000,000: Yup, we have administered more than 1 million vaccinations in San Diego County--the leader in the state of California. And we are focusing on vaccinating those hardest to reach. Recently, my wife and I joined CAL Fire to vaccinate farmworkers in our strawberry fields. My father-in-law started his life in America in these very fields, and it was a personal honor to bring vaccines directly to our hardest-working San Diegans.
Clean Air: MTS hit a major clean air milestone this week by retiring the last of its diesel busses! We are committed to taking bold action to run not only a world-class transit agency but also show real commitment to environmental justice.
We aren’t Texas: In a recent announcement, Texas Governor Greg Abbott lifted their states mask mandate, and announced that businesses can all open at 100% capacity. We are reopening in San Diego, but doing it responsibly. I would also point out that Texas has a COVID death rate almost twice as high as San Diego. So wear your mask for a bit longer.
