Vaccine Pivot: San Diego has a state-leading 64% of our eligible population who have been vaccinated! As demand for appointments slows, we are adjusting. We've expanded hours, fast-tracked appointments, set up mobile sites in the community, and partnered with religious institutes, businesses, and community groups to set up vaccine sites at their facilities. This piece from Vox pretty well sums up where we are in vaccine deployment and what should be done.
My Mom (and son) are awesome: My Mom's education was interrupted at age 19, when she had me. This week, she earned her Master's Degree. I couldn't be more proud! Also, incredibly proud of my son Max--he deploys this week with the Marine Corps. Going to miss having him around.
Mean Messages: We are back with Episode 2! Social media can be toxic, but I believe best to take it all in stride. And have a little fun with it. Check out Episode 2 of Mean Messages to see some of the ridiculous things people say!
You can't make this up: I have been a friend of Gavin Newsom for years and fully support him. As such, I am naturally skeptical of recall candidates. There's a talking parrot, a confused bear, and an inconsistent message that perfectly fits the circus environment this recall has created.
Eyewash?: Baseball is a beautiful game with its own customs, unwritten rules and slang terms. This piece from the Atlantic will explain the term “eyewash”. And if you want a fun YouTube channel with great baseball content check out JomBoy Media. I enjoyed this one, pretty good here, and all time greatest.
