Something new I learned: I really enjoy Thanksgiving and this year was no exception (although limited to our household). But I didn’t know about the massive political fight that erupted over which Thursday in November it would be celebrated.FDR responded to a request from retailers to move it up a week in 1939 (due to five Thursdays). And then all hell broke loose:) Our local Union-Tribune editorial page joined in on the FDR bashing.
Unsung Heroes: As cases across the nation continue to rise, health care workers are experiencing mental and physical burn out. This article from the Times tells the story of multiple health care workers and the challenges they've faced since the start of the pandemic 9 months ago. We should be thankful for them.
I’m here for this: The New York Times explores the stigmas around napping and breaks-down the one holiday where it seems ok--Thanksgiving!!! It also points out that naps might be making a resurgence during remote work and COVID-19. I am for it!
Moving Forward: This week, General Motors released that they have decided to drop their support of the Trump administration lawsuit over Califonia’s fuel economy rules. But a special thank you to my brand of vehicle--Ford, they never waived from their partnership with the California Air Resources Board!
Chess: I have not yet seen “Queen’s Gambit”, but hear it is great and am excited it has inspired millions of new people to begin playing chess! If you are one of these new folks on chess.com hit me up and let’s play. My username is NathanSD1. This week, I recorded my first “brilliant” move!
